Erik ten Hag ‘demanded Man Utd build a £200,000 wall in Carrington as under-fire boss wants to keep training secret’

MANCHESTER UNITED manager Erik ten Hag has had a massive £200,000 wall built in Carrington to keep his team’s training sessions secret.

Ten Hag’s future at United has been thrown into uncertainty amid the club’s worst ever start to the Premier League, with them picking up just eight points in their opening seven games.

However, the Dutch tactician, 54, continues to work rigorously and keeps an eye on even the smallest details regarding the well-being of his team, both on and off the field.

According to The Mail, the ex-Ajax boss demanded that a wall be erected to hide his training from prying eyes and protect his team from the elements.

The white wall was installed two weeks ago at the request of the sub-brand manager.

This comes after fellow Dutch boss Louis van Gaal ordered excavators and earthmoving equipment to erect windbreaks at Carrington when he was in charge of United in 2015.

Van Gaal said at the time: “Wind is not always the players’ friend.”

Nevertheless, the cost of the wall has raised eyebrows among club staff after Ineos implemented stringent cost-cutting measures.

Among them were 250 club employees who were dismissed.

United chief Sir Jim Ratcliffe attended a meeting on Tuesday to discuss Ten Hag’s future, which lasted seven hours.

Ineos sporting director Sir Dave Brailsford and United sporting director Dan Ashworth were also present at the showdown talks in London.

However, Ratcliffe gave no insight into the manager’s position as he left through a back exit.

This leaves fans no closer to wondering whether Ten Hag will still be in charge in their next match against Brentford at Old Trafford after the international break on October 19.
