Graham Mertz posts a heartfelt message for Florida fans after a season-ending injury

Graham Mertz played some of his best football during his college career in 2024, but he suffered a knee injury in the loss to Tennessee that ended his season.

In his last four games, Mertz went 61 of 74 for 700 yards and 6 touchdowns. He played clean football and the Gators started playing much better as a result.

On Monday, he shared his appreciation with Gator Nation on social media and promised he would continue to do everything he can to help the team win.

“Thank you for two incredible years in Gainesville,” Mertz wrote. “Unfortunately, I suffered a torn ACL against Tennessee and will miss the rest of the season. During my recovery, I will continue to be part of the program and do everything I can in meeting rooms and from the sidelines to help my teammates win. I would like to thank everyone for their expressions of support during this period.”

Now that Mertz is out, it’s officially the DJ Lagway era in Gainesville. Lagway has shown a lot of the potential that earned him a five-star rating as a member of the 2024 recruiting class. He has thrown for 765 yards and 5 touchdowns, but he has also thrown 4 interceptions.

Next up for Lagoway and the Gators is Kentucky. That game will take place in Gainesville with kickoff scheduled for 7:45 PM ET on the SEC Network.
