T&G Student of the Week. Vote now

It’s time to recognize a new Telegram & Gazette Student of the Week.

There are four strong nominees this week.

The T&G has asked high school principals, teachers and guidance counselors to nominate students who they believe have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement and community service.

This week’s nominees:

Summaries submitted by schools.

Leila Anstine, Clinton High School: Leila took on the role of friend/mentor to an incoming first-year student who only speaks another language. She helped this student through the first week of school, got help with her Chromebook keyboard, and generally felt welcome at CHS. Through the use of translation tools, Leila was able to create a lasting connection in a way that made this student feel at home at CHS. Leila has also played an important role in our No Place for Hate organization at CHS. They currently serve as the student president of the organization.

Cassidy Burke, Oxford High School: Cassidy, a junior, is a kind and respectful student who exemplifies dedication in all her endeavors. As a junior class officer, student council member and active participant in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, she demonstrates strong leadership skills and dedication to her colleagues. Furthermore, her passion for volleyball reflects her teamwork and determination both on and off the court.

Keziah Kissi, Abby Kelley Foster Charter Public School: The sophomore is a respected athlete who can be expected to go above and beyond when the community needs it. Keziah believes that anything is possible with “the right mindset, the right guidance and God!” Keziah consistently performs at a high level and credits her parents and Prophet Godwin as her biggest motivators.

Anne Christie Louis, Leominster Secondary School: Anne has tried her best in class to learn a new language. As a newcomer, she makes every effort to speak, read, listen and write in English in all her classes, while being friendly to all students and teachers.
