CBSE Date Sheet 2025 Live: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is expected to announce the exam schedule of Class 10 and 12 on its official website soon. Recently, CBSE released the practical exam timetable, which provides crucial information to students and schools as they prepare for the exams. The practical exams for most schools start on January 1, 2025, while the theory exams start on February 15, 2025. However, the practical exams in winter regions will start from November 5 to December 5, 2024.

To support the examination process in winter-bound schools that will remain closed in January 2025, CBSE has prepared Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and guidelines for conducting practical examinations, project work and internal assessments. In addition, the board has set out the distribution of marks by subject for classes 10 and 12, urging schools to carefully review and monitor this distribution as submitted practical marks cannot be changed.

CBSE has also released a comprehensive list of subjects for each class, containing essential information such as subject codes, names, maximum marks for theory and practical components, project evaluations, internal assessments and the specific answer booklets required for theory exams. Schools are advised to refer to these guidelines to ensure a smooth exam process and avoid missteps.

In line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, CBSE has introduced major changes in the exam pattern for 2025 to enhance competency-based learning. This revised format aims to strengthen students’ practical understanding of rote memorization by increasing the focus on competency-based questions. For class 10, 50% of the questions will be competency-based, similar to previous years, while in class 12, the proportion will increase from 40% to 50% by 2025. These questions will include various formats such as multiple choice questions (MCQs), case-based questions and source-based integrated questions, to better assess students’ ability to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world contexts.

The updated 2025 structure will also see a slight reduction in questions focused on memorization, promoting a deeper understanding of the material. Consequently, the number of constructed answer questions, including short and long answers, will be slightly reduced in both Class 10 and Class 12 exams.
