French trade gap near one-year high | 08.11.24

(RTTNews) – France’s trade deficit rose to its highest level in a year in September, customs data showed on Friday.

The trade deficit rose in September from 7.7 billion euros in the previous month to 8.3 billion euros in September. This was the largest deficit since October last year.

Economists had predicted that the trade deficit would narrow to 7.0 billion euros in September.

Exports recorded a monthly decline of 1.4 percent, while imports fell only 0.3 percent.

On a year-on-year basis, exports fell 3.4 percent in September and imports fell 4.4 percent, data showed.
