Cowboys’ Cooper Rush named Dak Prescott’s backup; Trey Lance still QB3 on depth chart | News, scores, highlights, stats and rumors

Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy confirmed Monday that Cooper Rush will serve as Dak Prescott’s backup at the start of the 2024 season, making Trey Lance the QB3 for the second straight season.

Mike McCarthy made it official. Cooper Rush is the Cowboys’ backup quarterback. Trey Lance has made huge strides and they want to continue developing him.
But Rush, as expected, is QB2.

The news was expected after Lance threw a whopping five interceptions in the team’s final preseason game against the Los Angeles Chargers, a 26-19 loss. Lance played the entire game.
