Tigers 11th in first playoff ratings | News, Sports, Jobs

PARKERSBURG — The first WVSSAC football playoff ratings, including four classes, were released Tuesday afternoon.

Elkins and first-year coach Chad Ware are ranked 11th in the Class AAA standings, which are filled with several other members of the Big 10 Conference.

The Tigers are off to a 2-1 start heading into Friday night’s game against longtime rival Buckhannon-Upshur.

Bridgeport (3-0) is atop Triple-A, while Fairmont Senior (3-0) is second, North Marion (3-0) is fifth, Robert C. Byrd (2-1) is seventh and East Fairmont (2-1) is 16th.

On Friday evening, the polar bears and the huskies will compete against each other in Rachel.

Philip Barbour (2-1) is in sixth place in Class AAA as the Colts attempt to reach the playoffs for the second straight time.

Liberty (1-2) is ranked 12th and visits Philip Barbour for its homecoming game at George Byrer Field at BC Bank Park on Friday night.

Moorefield (1-2) is 11th and Lincoln (1-2) is 15th.

Roane County (3-0) is first in the Class AA playoff standings.

In Class A, Tucker County (3-0) is tied with Webster County (3-0) for eighth place.

Petersburg (3-0) is in first place, with Pendleton County (2-1) in 11th.

Spring Mills (3-0) tops the Class AAAA standings, followed by Martinsburg (3-0) and Hedgesville (2-0).

The top 16 teams in each division qualify for the play-offs.
